Dedicated to fostering learning, creativity, productivity, and community through education
Over the past year, the Digital Harbor Foundation has transformed from a local Baltimore nonprofit exploring regional and national initiatives and partnerships to a nationally recognized and funded thought leader helping other out-of-school-time organizations around the country incorporate technology education into their programs. This transformation is a result of a series of changes over the past year: growth of national strategic partnerships and initiatives, greater strategic clarity, increased staff capacity, increased development capacity, and conducted National Science Foundation research. An investment in Digital Harbor Foundation will increase the number of students experiencing relevant STEM education during their out-of-school time.
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. That’s the vision of The Greater Sum — that we can accomplish more working together. In order to amplify the impact of nonprofits like Digital Harbor, we introduce them to new potential supporters like you.
The Greater Sum provides strategic training and mentoring for early stage nonprofit innovators. We invest in organizations who are providing new solutions to old problems, and are ready to expand the scale of their impact. We share their stories so that other philanthropists like you have the opportunity to do the same. Gifts made through these pages will be transferred to the nonprofit of your choice. If you represent a grant-making organization and would like to be connected with these organizations, contact us directly and we’ll make an introduction! If you choose to donate funds through our website, we’ll transfer them to Digital Harbor so that they can train more educators to implement STEM makerspaces nationwide.
A Deeper Dive
The Greater Sum supports organizations that are scaling their impact, either by expanding their service area or by teaching other organizations to replicate their innovation. Why are we excited about Digital Harbor? Here’s more of a deep dive into their organizational structure and vision. When they applied for funding they created a Pitch Deck that describes the problem they’re addressing, the solution they have created, and resulting outcomes. We invest in teams; the pitch deck shows how the leadership of Digital Harbor is laying the groundwork for success.
Greater Sum Sight Visit videos are a way we share best practices with other nonprofits in our network. We visited Digital Harbor so that we could spotlight their educator programs, where they teach afterschool staff from across the country how to implement makerspaces into their existing programs.
