Empowr
Empowr is the school-to-career pipeline for low-income youth. We teach software development as a multi-year program to high school students in low-income schools. 100% of our graduates attend college or secure a career, making $80,000 within one year of graduation.
Our program ends the generational poverty cycles that plague so many communities. The average increase in household income for each student once they graduate is over 500%. In addition, we provide full wrap-around support. This means we give each student laptops, internet grants, daily nutritious meals, and access to therapy. Not to mention, once a year, we do a cross-country tour with our students to visit tech offices nationwide.

The Greater Sum supports organizations that are scaling their impact, either by expanding their service area or by teaching other organizations to replicate their innovation. Why are we excited about the Promising Practices cohort? Because they’re graduates of our Financial Strategy incubator, we know they’re mapping out a plan for sustainable impact. When they applied for funding they created a Pitch Deck that describes the problem the organization was founded to address, the solution they have created, and resulting outcomes. We invest in teams; the pitch deck shows how the leadership of Empowr is laying the groundwork for success.
