World Tutors Virtually Everywhere
WorldTutors: Virtually Everywhere is an international virtual tutoring program promoting education through friendship. Tutors are volunteers, age 12 - PhD professors, and share skills in the areas of math, science, history, literacy and world languages.
WorldTutors is FUN. Kids are begging for their turn. Tutors are eager to provide multiple sessions. Community centers report that students are super engaged, and that we provide much needed student support. WorldTutors is more than academic support – we offer vibrant cultural exchange where students and tutors bond through learning, games and shared interests, making connections from California to Chicago to Uganda, to Haiti and across the globe.
"WorldTutors has meant so much to me. Thank you for everything you have done for me and for letting me be a part of an organization that has changed the way I approach language and myself." Nascha, tutor, WorldTutors, Washington state
"Jathniel loves meeting with the tutors. He says he plans on being a tutor when he gets a bit older." Jathniel's mother, Bridgeport, Connecticut
WorldTutors is for everyone and can be part of your story too! We are an academic tsunami. Catch the wave and join us!
The Greater Sum provides strategic training and mentoring for early stage nonprofit innovators. We invest in organizations who are providing new solutions to old problems, and are ready to expand the scale of their impact. We share their stories so that other philanthropists like you have the opportunity to do the same. If you represent a grant-making organization and would like to be connected with these organizations, contact us directly and we’ll make an introduction! Individuals interested in connecting with World Tutors Initiative, please visit their website for more information.
The Greater Sum supports organizations that are scaling their impact, either by expanding their service area or by teaching other organizations to replicate their innovation. Why are we excited about the Promising Practices cohort? Because they’re graduates of our Financial Strategy incubator, we know they’re mapping out a plan for sustainable impact. When they applied for funding they created a Pitch Deck that describes the problem the organization was founded to address, the solution they have created, and resulting outcomes. We invest in teams; the pitch deck shows how the leadership of World Tutors is laying the groundwork for success.
